Middle River is a city in Marshall County, Minnesota, along the Middle River. The population was 303 at the 2010 census.[1]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2), all of it land.
As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 319 people, 152 households, and 76 families residing in the city. The population density was 639.9 people per square mile (246.3/km²). There were 161 housing units at an average density of 323.0 per square mile (124.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.75% White, and 1.25% from two or more races. 52.5% were of Norwegian, 8.6% Polish, 6.1% Finnish, 5.8% American, 5.0% Irish and 5.0% Swedish ancestry according to Census 2000.
There were 152 households out of which 23.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 36.8% were married couples living together, 9.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 50.0% were non-families. 45.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.10 and the average family size was 2.88.
In the city the population was spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 88.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $23,929, and the median income for a family was $28,750. Males had a median income of $30,625 versus $20,179 for females.
